books read in December:
The Fire This Time: A New Generation Speaks about Race, Jesmyn Ward: Great essays, really liked it, learned a lot. At the same time I am starting to feel like the issue isn’t so much needing to learn new information as much as it is consistently listening and understanding and applying what I do already know, and I do wish there was more about that, if that makes sense.
Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, Matthew Desmond: I had been putting off reading this for years because it felt like a book I should read and I kind of assumed it would be like a long article or a series of housing white papers. It is the opposite of that. It’s rare you find writing this good in nonfiction. Everyone should read this. I did have to keep taking breaks because it was very upsetting, just the realities of this system which I knew about already from the perspective of working with voucher holders and people trying to get vouchers. But probably the best nonfiction I’ve read since the pandemic.
Chemistry, Weike Wang: I liked the stream-of-consciousness style, almost like reading someone’s diary. I found the main character’s struggle with expectations, with herself, and with coming to terms with both what her parents did to her and and did for her really compelling. It helped me better understand my friends who are or have been in graduate programs. A little hetero for me but nothing’s perfect.
False Bingo, Jac Jemc: So the stories are clever and the author builds suspense well, and the one about the board game couple was a delightfully scathing portrait of trying to have friends in your 30s. But. They were mostly kind of boring, kind of caught up in their own cleverness, kind of suffused with a certain middle-class midwestern realism that I find dull and off-putting, and occasionally kind of tone-deaf to the point of offensive. There’s one where these women in this town keep getting attacked and the twist is that one woman lied about being attacked to get herself out of a difficult conversation with her boyfriend, and then all the others wanted to feel special and included so they faked it too, and the people honestly upset about the violence against women are chumps who should have known better. And like... sure, fiction should absolutely be able to just go “if there were two guys on the moon and one killed another with a rock would that be fucked up or what!” but. Jac Jemc isn’t Gillian Flynn, who can and does pull this type of subversion off well. And reading it during the current backlash, in the wake of the Amber Heard debacle and while Meghan Thee Stallion was being pilloried for being attacked and daring to say she was, like I said, tone-deaf to the point of offensive.
Last Night in Nuuk, Niviaq Korneliussen, trans. Anna Halagar: Mama Mia wishes its big night was half as wild as the big night in this story. Again, I found the stream of consciousness style enjoyable, though this was more like being tapped into someone’s internal monologue who is very hung over. It’s gay, it’s queer, it’s trans, it’s complicated. I... really wish authors would stop having their queer women characters declare that being with a butch woman is “just like a man without the penis.” And like. How you know they’re Real Lesbians is that they’re into women not ugly bull-dykes. I also wish the trans man’s trans-ness had felt less like it could just have easily been stone butch-ness. But I think that’s more of a me problem where like... I have had enough people treat the state where I exist comfortably as both gross and a pit-stop on the way to inevitable transition (which I don’t want for me) that stories that even unintentionally play into that aren’t enjoyable to me, even as I recognize that they’re transformative and important for others.

Designed by an expert Ph.D. level lesbian therapist with lesbian couples in mind.
This on-demand, available from anywhere course is ideal for busy couples to get the love and relationship coaching they need without the challenges of scheduling and keeping in-person appointments.
Are you in a lesbian relationship that feels listless, lonely, or like it’s moving in the direction of eventual collapse? Is there a part of you that longs to feel cherished and secure in a relationship that’s full of joy, fun, and love, again? This program takes you on a journey of rediscovery and renewal that will have you feeling like the happiest couple in the room. Again.
If your relationship disconnection or distress has gone on for a while, there’s a good chance that either you or your partner are questioning if you’re “right” for each other.
You may be lying awake at night replaying unresolved arguments, feeling alone and misunderstood, or worrying that your relationship is teetering on the edge of a steep cliff.
You’re hesitant to even let yourself imagine feeling alive and in love with your partner, again.
At the same time, you’re looking for a thread of hope that you will have a future together that’s full of adventure, nurturance, attention, and the ease of being exquisitely tuned-in to one another.
Sometimes you let yourself imagine a relationship that thrives with heartfelt connection, spirited discussions, playful affection, shared goals, and deep vulnerability. True intimacy.
Mostly, you feel sad about the distance between the two of you. And you’re exhausted and depleted from the negative cycle that neither of you have been able to stop.
You want nothing more than to stop walking on egg-shells, to feel safe again, and to travel through life with the woman you fell in love with. Deep inside, you dream of relationship growth and transformation.
If you’re struggling with relationship issues or pain, TLC provides a clear path to relief, reconnection and resolving your problems quickly.
You Crave…
Great conversations where you both feel understood, and closer than when you started talking
Easily connecting emotionally, affectionately, and sensually
Knowing that your partner understands, accepts, and adores you
The ease of talking about even tough issues without fighting, blaming, stonewalling, or getting defensive
Balancing closeness and independence
An atmosphere of humor, laughter, and playfulness
To be on the same page about goals and dreams
Looking forward to spending the evening with your partner
A spirit of ongoing friendliness, appreciation, and gratitude
Both of you making your relationship the number one priority
Understanding how to help one another feel soothed and relieved when upset
Knowing, deep in your bones, that nothing can shake your intimate connection
“Dr Spann was very professional while being personable and relatable. Her level of expertise made us know that we were in the right place. Dr Spann had a large toolbox from which to recommend exercises and other ideas, allowing us to try a variety of therapeutic activities.” – Former Client

Feel hopeless about ever learning how to communicate so that you’ll feel heard and understood
Are tired of juggling life, work, and other responsibilities and barely have time for fun or intimacy anymore

Keep reading the latest “communication” tips to solve disagreements, but nothing seems to work long term.
If you’re feeling alone on your journey of love, strapped for time, and don’t know how to repair and rebuild your relationship…but know in your heart you both deserve more… this is the coaching program for you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is this couples therapy? No. Even though Lynda is a licensed therapist, this is a coaching program and she will only be functioning as a relationship coach.
How much time can I expect this course to take? Each week, you’ll have a training module with several short videos to watch which add up to be about one hour of total viewing time.
There will be a weekly 2 hour live coaching call via Zoom.
You will have a workbook with homework exercises for each module. Homework shouldn’t take more than 1 or 2 hours a week.
My partner doesn’t want to take this course. Can I take it by myself? The TLC program is designed for couples, with practices for the two of you to do together. If she is resistant, just see if she’s willing to do a 45minute breakthrough session with you and Lynda. Sometimes resistant partners decide to join once they talk to Lynda and see how TLC can benefit them.
My partner and I may not both be free at the time of the coaching call. What should we do? Attending the live coaching calls is highly recommended. However, we understand that you may not be able to make every single one of them.
Do we both have to pay tuition? No! Your tuition includes both of you.
What if we buy this program and find out it’s not for us? Will we get a refund? I do not offer a refund. As in everything worth having in life, your results are totally dependent on your hard work, commitment, motivation, where your relationship is at when you join, and many other factors. We will explore all this and more during the Relationship Breakthrough call. I promise I will not invite you to join if for any reason, I feel this program is not right for you – it would not serve either of us to do so.
I don’t live in the United States…can I participate? Yes! All you need is to be fluent in English, an internet connection, and a webcam!
Will my insurance pay for this coaching course? Unfortunately, no. Like gym memberships and other services that promote your well-being, coaching is not a service that the health insurance industry has chosen to cover.
Do you offer payment plans? Yes.
What if I have more questions about the course? We’d be happy to answer any further questions you may have! Email to get in touch.

The First Pride was a Riot
Local community radio station KXCI focused most of the day’s programming on LGBTQ+ issues, including music and numerous historical interviews, in honor of the anniversary of the Stonewall riots of 1969. The riots are widely considered the watershed event that transformed the gay liberation movement and the twentieth-century fight for LGBTQ+ rights in the U.S.
A year after the uprising, the first gay pride marches took place in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco. Within a few years, gay rights organizations were founded around the world. Today, Pride events are held annually in June, though in Tucson, due to the month’s record of heat, the major events are now held during October.
While most Pride events in the U.S. commemorate the riots in New York City, Tucson also has its own reasons. The city’s Pride history was triggered by a different tragedy, the brutal murder of Richard Heakin, a young gay man leaving the Stonewall Tavern in Tucson one evening in 1976. When the attackers were given a slap on the wrist, the community rallied, officially forming the organization known today as Tucson Pride. Their efforts led to some of the first LGBTQ+ anti-discrimination legislation in the country.
I don’t recall when exactly I became aware of the existence of gay people, though it must have come during my high school years. (I was, after all, active in theater pursuits, and we joked about being “thespians.”)
By my freshman year at the community college in Lawton, Oklahoma, I counted a few gays and lesbians among my friends and acquaintances. Later, while serving in the Air Force on Okinawa, I occasionally ventured to one of the local gay bars with my friends, though my main interest was the alcohol.
At the University of Arizona, after my military service, I enjoyed the support of one of the gay student organizations in my futile run for a position in the student senate.
Once I returned to Tucson in the mid-Eighties, I joined a church — the same one I am still associated with — which embraced its LGBTQ+ members. At times, every member of the clergy participating in a service was gay. We were not unusual among Episcopal churches in Tucson. I remember spending Halloween evening with a couple of gay church friends, hitting some of the city’s gay bars.
During its heyday, I was involved with One in Ten Theatre, the city’s LGBTQ+ theater group. I performed in several plays over the years and also served in production positions and on the board of directors. I remain friends with many of the people I met during that time.
Unlike some folks raised on the Bible, I have never suffered from an aversion to the LGBTQ+ crowd, for which I have long been very grateful. Without the presence of LGBTQ+ people in my life, my existence would be much poorer.
So I will be watching carefully as the nation’s highest court begins deliberations on issues that may adversely affect my LGBTQ+ friends. As an ally, I will not stand idly by while the forces of religious and political conservatism attempt to turn back the clock on human rights. There will doubtless be more riots in our future.

Early Gay Communities in Seattle
Selection from An Evening at the Garden of Allah: A Gay Cabaret in Seattle, by Don Paulson and Roger Simpson, 1996. Note this takes a rather negative view of roles as parroting heterosexuality, which isn’t how I would describe them.
As their numbers grew [during WWII and after], Seattle’s gay men and lesbians devised ways to meet that were relatively safe. Such protected meetings not only permitted romantic alliances, but allowed men and women to begin to explore the condition of being gay or lesbian consciously. Bars, after-hours clubs, and parties allowed men and women to meet freely. For many gay men, cruising had developed into an art form in an era when there were few sanctioned ways of meeting other men for sex or companionship. Cruising took place on street corners, in bathhouses, public restrooms, city parks, and all-night movie-theater balconies (which separated men and women). In Seattle, choice pickup spots were the Winter Garden, Colonial, and Green Parrot (also known as the Dirty Bird) movie theaters, and parks where tunnels through dense bushes facilitated encounters. Servicemen could be picked up at any bar, gay or straight, as long as one remained discreet. Cars steadily circled the block once occupied by a J.C. Penney department store. And the Greyhound bus station, like all the others around the country, was a risky, but popular spot.
Working-class lesbians formed their relationships in different ways. They were more likely to meet in their jobs or in social settings, such as church or neighborhood gathers, although a few women also met in bars. Athletic women joined city-sponsored “fast-pitch” softball teams or played in basketball leagues. A few joined motorcycle clubs. Denied some of the freedom of movement men enjoyed, women found it harder to form relationships, and couples stayed together for longer periods. The social institution that best supported the lesbians was the house party. Seattle women said they went to house parties as frequently as once a week, and emphasized that the parties were attended mostly by lesbian couples in relationships.
Lesbians were highly conscious of their roles. “These were the days of butch and femme,” according to Pat Freeman, who is a program manager to Boeing’s maintenance training department. The butch’s role was to make love to the femme and “be the man of the house,” she said. The femme had to be passive. In groups as well as in bed, the role-conscious lesbians seemed to be trying to live up to the expectations fostered in the straight community. Butch and femme roles were tightly defined, and anyone who defied the role was a subject of gossip and derision. “Unfortunately, the sexism of the period was emulated, too,” Freeman said.
In the 1940s, young lesbians began to break out of rigid role-playing. The older women would be shocked, Freeman said, when a butch would leave a femme to be a femme to another butch. Some of the young lesbians rebelled against the isolation they experienced as teenagers when they were often frozen out of social networks because older women ran the risk of jail for associated with underage women. Committed women were so numerous that single women often had to find new partners by attracting those already in relationships. Indeed, some women gained reputations for breaking up established couples.
Gay male roles also were influenced often by straight stereotypes. “Queen” was the term for a gay man who was the passive partner--or “bottom”--of a very masculine gay or straight man, or “butch.” The role-playing dictated that a butch and a queen pair up, parroting the man-woman pair in heterosexual relationships. The roles weren’t always maintained, however; ki-kis were queens who had sex with each other. Other queens ridiculed ki-kis, and said they were “piss elegant” or part of the “cuff-link crowd” because they gathered in elite, safe straight havens such as the Marien Room in the Olympic Hotel. The issue sometimes brought into conflict the rigid working-class role-playing and the more casual assumptions of upper-class men. The common put-down from a role-playing queen to a ki-ki was, “What’s the matter, honey? You can’t get a man? You have to go out with your sister?” The recollections I heard about such exchanges had the judgmental tone even though both working-class and upper-class men revealed in other ways that their relationships had been transformative. Female impersonators were known for defying the role stereotypes. They usually took the role of “top” or active partner in sex, ran the households, and made the decisions.

“Koda” - FC: Boo Boo Stewart - “I’ll bring dishonor on you all”
He goes only by Koda. It’s an artist thing.
Parentage - Biologically the son of Kenai and Xianniang - Mulan and Xianniang are the lesbian mothers. They got together after Kenai’s demise and after Mulan helped Xianniang find her own path, once a coven supporter through the vamps of Shan Yui and Bori Khan who controlled her. So, Koda would have grown up on the side of coven, but Mulan changed the story.
BOTH PARENTS (Mulan and Xianniang) ARE NOW DECEASED - KILLED IN THE HORNED KING TAKE OVER OF FERAL
Koda is another character trying to start over after losing his entire family in the game. He’s lost his livelihood and purpose for living. He’s only had a couple connections in life that keep him motivated at all. His link to the band with Flotsam’s family, his horse that was Jetsam’s on his mothers’ ranch, and Elsa. He has some friends in Willem and Zero, but he’s got a different maturity than them, and can only handle so much of their energy at once. He ends up retreating back to his studio alone. Feral opening up is big for Koda. Getting back to his roots where what’s left of what little remains of his family is a big deal for him. Sharing it with Elsa feels special, but he has no idea where the world is going to lead him next.
His History
He isn’t Koda from the cartoon. He’s named after Koda, the bear cub his father trekked through the country with on his spirit mission as a bear. His father is the Kenai with two brothers, Denahi and Sitkah.
Sitkah has passed, killed by the bear his father hunted, and appears with messages through the eagle spirit.
He still has an Uncle Denahi, now a vampire.
The Bear of Love is said to be in his soul now passed through his family line and can transform into a bear like an animagus, like Eeyore, or like his mother can form into a hawk.
He is very in touch with his chi like his mother Xianniang and just as much a free thinker and willful as Mulan.
Koda was Electric Voodoo’s new band member after Edgar E Gore was killed in the war.
He was a freshman at the Magisterium’s college level program for advanced magic at his entrance in the game. This is how Jetsam even met him and is now pals with Flotsam too. But, since Flotsam only just rejoined the band, he has known Jetsam way longer.

They are the strategies, schedules and also dedications that moms and dads accept allow the kids to spend time with both moms and dads as well as, typically, their extended household.
Nevertheless, some acting hearings might include issues of substance, such as hearing dental proof regarding what kind of call a moms and dad should be having with a youngster prior to the final hearing. The court needs to make it clear what is anticipated to take place at any interim hearing. The LA should still seek advice from parents as well as keep them informed of decisions that they wish to make. The LA is likewise under a duty to make sure that parents and also kids have 'reasonable' call with each other while the care order is in pressure. Exclusive law implies a court case that is simply between relative, such as moms and dads or various other family members-- as well as which does not include a Local Authority or other State company. 11.17 Mediation is a much more formal process than arbitration as the parties enter into an arrangement under which they designate an accordingly certified individual to adjudicate a dispute as well as make an honor. Harpy hcs (+ Harpies in general)
Harpies are one big civilization that live in a hole/cave system
The females are the leaders. (males most often get kicked out) Stick to royalty and most often get to see the outside of the Caves. (Ex our Harpy)
The harpies have their own language which is a mixture of ancient greek and the lagugages of the birds. (Not many understand that language and it's pretty hard to translate as an outsider.)
-> every Harpyies name would be translated into "Harpy" even though the names completely differ in their pronunciation.
There are two species if Harpies. They high class ones (beautiful women with Bird bodies) and the lower class ones (ugly scrappy birds)
The harpies live in a monarchy like system. There is a royal family, in which the oldest royal daughter gets to mate with an outsider creating the new royal family.
They have a council of harpys. The eldest and wisest harpys there get to decide along with the current queen political stuff.
The lower class is mating with male Harpies. It's a newer phenomenon as it was "recently" decided that it would be beneficial to expand the amount of harpies.
(They still call them self's sisters)
Harpies live relatively seperated from the whole underworld civilization. They have their own politics while sticking under Kibosh's wing. (Like Egypt and Atlantis)
----
Our Harpy was the oldest sister of the current royal family. That's why she was attending scare school. (She was scare School's first Harpy tho which lead to the culture shock of not speaking that language, she simply wasn't prepared)
She often hung out with Thatch and the gang but never really was friends with them (most of the time not really understanding what they were saying)
Harpy struggles a lot with learning languages that's why it took her pretty long to talk it fluently. Understanding became easier.
She knew Ra before from the news (People are interested in Egypt's royalty the way people are interested in british royalty yk. Like mostly old ppl and such) and thought he was quite handsome.
She fell from him pretty quickly considering that he constantly made an idiot of himself ("you're stupid I like that in a man")
Harpy in general was a very openly and active monster. Loves singing (which was very common in her culture) and sappy romance storys with happy endings. She was very loud and sometimes a little bit too lazy for her own good.
She gets cursed between first and second year (so after season 1 before season 2)
An assassin was sent to curse the queen into a human form. They mistook the queen for their daughter and almost managed to fully transform her.
Harpy looked human, still keeping her feathery hair as well as pointy ears and teeth.
With help of medicine she could get turned into her old form temporary though. While greeks best healers tryed to find a solution she tryed her best to hide this from the outside world.
But over time the medicine stopped working and the spans between transformations became shorter.
Harpy turned from favorite child to family disgrace. Her mother started despising her for being different. Beeing a shame.
This ended in abuse (Harpy's are fighters and pretty rough in general) Damaging her eyes and leaving some scars (mentally and physically).
After three weeks of not turning back Harpy was ripped out her bed one night and got knocked out and woke up to a flying ship to America. Taking her to an orphanage. (The council's decision, Harpy lives in the believe that it was her mother's) That happens after season 2
She stays in Salem's orphanage for a long while. There was not really a change of getting adopted. She was wounded still not able to speak and still had the features that made her different from the other children (not to mention that she was like 13 which is an unlikely age to be adopted at)
When one day a lovely wizard couple, not able to get children of their own comes to the orphanage to get information about adoptions they find Harpy. Diana and Carl Garcia immediately have a soft spot for her.
They want to help her, heal her and raise her (teach her what they know)
So she gets adopted and even if it takes Harpy a while to fully trust them she lets them help her.
These two are mostly healers which means they both could do wonders. Made her eyesight better (she still needs glasses/ contacts but it's way better than before) and strengthended her english ability's with a spell.
Due to the healing process her hair as well as her eyes got lighter/ brighter. She had to change her name to Henrietta (Harpy is not an official name in the rest of the monster world) They taught her magic and sent her to the Taliesin Academy for magicians.
She befriended two girls (Daliah, prodegy child and Tempest, chill closet lesbian gal). Since Daliah is the Headmistress' daughter she was sent out to become a somewhat rolemodel for scare School's brand new witch program.
So she took Harpy and Tempest with her to Scare School to "dominate" their witch class. (Boom season 3 starts)
Harpy meets Ra again (no she did not get over him) and he slowly starts falling for her. Not knowing who she is. (She tells him the day they become a couple. "That means I fell for you twice")
Since she isn't royal anymore she's a stressed person always very focused on good grades and discipline. A people pleaser. She indeed has a therapist but recovery takes a looong time.
----
All witches/ wizards use a dark magic to some extent but going full on black magic/ demon powers is frowned upon.
The day it's studied a relatively harmless demon is brought in for a demonstration. And let's say Bully™ has fun teasing it. Which leads into Harpy getting possessed. This results in a lot of drama but luckily the demon can be hold back by a glove. (She can't controll it yet since she has no deal with him)
The demon does have slight effects on her personality. Not as in it changes but her true personality shines trough. (Jealous, dominant and slightly sarcastic and sometimes even fisty but she mostly stays sweet and shy)
So she remains good in theory semi good in pratical magic.
Because if bad memories Harpy hates music/ doesn't listen to it on her own.
She loves flowers both for aesthetic reasons and for potions and such.
She got into reading. Mostly dramas. She stays very traditional though. She works very hard especially in magic hoping to become a teacher/ professor one day.

42 Webcomics Keshet Reads
I was recently reminded that I currently read a lot of webcomics, or have done so in the past. Here’s an incomplete list, linking to the first page where i can (which will usually mean the worst art). Organized thus: Title, Author. Genre. Format (long-format stories, short-format & single-page stories, or mixed). Description.
The Adventures of Dr. McNinja, by Christopher Hastings. Comedy, Parody, Action. A man from a long line of Irish ninjas has devoted his own life to saving lives as a doctor, disappointing his family. His staff includes a sentient but non-speaking gorilla receptionist, and eventually a boy sidekick who grew a fabulous mustache out of sheer determination. Recurring threats include fast food mascots, ghosts, wizards, ghost wizards, and a disease that turns people into giant lumberjacks. Completed.
BACK, by Anthony Clark and KC Green. Comedy, Adventure, Absurdity, Weird West. Long-Format. A cowgirl comes back from the dead with no memory of who she was or how she died, and is told by a trio of “Cool Witches” that she has to bring about the end of the world—though what exactly that means remains a mystery. Consistently excellent visual storytelling from masters of sequential art; at least one WLW pairing among the characters.
Bite Me!, by Dylan Meconis. Comedy, Horror, Historic Fiction. Long-Format. A young woman becomes a vampire amidst the chaos of the French Revolution. Featuring immortal angst, a Jewish werewolf, and sacré bleu, the chickens. Completed (website can be slow to load).
Broodhollow, by Kris Straub. Horror, Weird Fiction. Long-Format. By the creator of the original creepypasta that inspired Channel Zero. A young man abounding with neuroses and compulsions comes to a strange little town in order to settle a late relative’s estate. Themes of unreliable memories and differences of perception.
Chainsawsuit, by Kris Straub. Comedy. Short-Format. Three-panel gag comic.
ChaosLife, by A. Stiffler & K. Copeland. Slice of Life, Autobiographical. Mixed-Format. The life of a queer couple and their pets: humor, lgbt issues, mental illness (K. experiences paranoid schizophrenia), cats, and occasional puppets.
Crunchy Bunches, by Scott Warren. Comedy. Mixed-Format. Cereal mascot parody focused on snaggle-toothed feline mascot Munchy and his friends.
Dead Winter, by Allison Shabet. Action, Horror, Comedy. Long-Format. Zombie apocalypse story with occasional partially-animated scenes, and a relatively low focus on the actual zombies. Infrequent updates, but has a Patreon with weekly content.
DRIVE, by Dave Kellet. Sci-Fi, Comedy. Long-Format. Humanity has taken to the stars, led by a second Spanish Empire that controls the secrets of FTL travel. When the crew of the Machito recover their science advisor and accidentally pick up a mysterious amnesiac alien at the same time, they become embroiled in intrigue that affects the whole of human space and beyond, caught between secret police, mind-controlling invaders, and a species dedicated to invention who have a grudge against humans.
El Goonish Shive, by Dan Shive. Adventure, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Superheroics, Slice of Life, Mad Science. Long Format. Difficult to pin down, once described as “the most squeaky-clean fetish comic online”—lots of characters undergoing fantastic transformations of their bodies. Starts out weak but gradually grew into one of the most progressive webcomics out there as the creator started to really think about the meaning of someone wanting to transform from a nerdy boy into a busty girl. I’ve said more about it, here. Significant LGBT content, including canon gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, genderfluid, and asexual characters.
Family Man, by Dylan Meconis. Historic Fiction, Horror, Romance, Libraries. Long-Format. A learned man of Jewish ancestry takes a position as a lecturer at a small Christian university in the middle of nowhere in the Germanies of the 18th century, and falls in love with the daughter of the head of the university—who has some secrets relating to her mother’s family On hiatus as of July 2017.
Freefall, by Mark Stanley. Comedy, Sci-Fi, Furry. Long-Format. A larcenous alien and his naive robot pal living on a human colony world acquire the services of an uplifted humanoid wolf as their ship’s engineer under less-than-legal circumstances. As time goes on, the crew becomes caught up in the struggles and politics of the artificial intelligences of the colony. Binge-reading page here, colored strips here.
Girl Genius, by Phil & Kaja Foglio. Gaslamp Fantasy (Not-Steampunk), Action, Comedy, Mad Science, Alternate History. Long-format. A young woman discovers that she is the latest in a line of mad scientists including the vanished heroes of Europa as well as some of its most terrible villains.
Goblins, by Ellipsis Hana Stephens. Fantasy, RPGs, Action, Body Horror. Long-format. A tribe of goblins go from being mere MOBs to taking levels as adventurers themselves, facing ambiguity about alignment, morality, and the place of "monsters” in a world that seems to favor humanoids. Can get very gory at times. Light LGBT content including a prominent gay male character; transgender creator.
Goodbye to Halos, by Valerie Halla. Fantasy, Adventure. Long Format. Forced through a gateway to another world for her own safety, Fenic finds herself in the “run-down queer district” of a city of animal people—and spends a few years coming into own identity as a trans lesbian, forging a new life. But the reasons she was forced into this world are catching up to her, and she’ll need to turn her protective streak towards defending herself. Heavy LGBT themes; often not safe for work. The only work i can think of where a trans girl’s underwear bulge is treated as a completely nonsexual and innocent thing.
Grrl Power, by Dave Barrack. Superheroes, Sci-Fi. Long Format. Probably Not Safe For Work. Comics nerd Sydney Scoville winds up becoming a superhero herself after circumstances force her to reveal her powers and join up with an agency providing training and oversight. While consistently funny and clever with the use of powers, it can be very centered on the male gaze; the art starts out being pretty . I actually first started reading it because I recognized one of the characters from years prior when the artist was posting softcore smut to furry websites.
Guilded Age, by T. Campbell & Phil Kahn, art by John & Jason Waltrip and Erica Henderson. Fantasy, RPGs, Action, MMOs. Long-Format. A group of adventurers face off against threats to their world—such as the CEO of the company that programmed their world in the first place. Strong themes of intrigue, the nature of violence, and the concept of good and evil in fantasy settings. Completed, now running extras & side stories, including annotated repeats of the original pages.
Gunnerkrigg Court, by Tom Siddell. Fantasy, Sci-Fi. Long-Format. A young girl attends a strange boarding school specializing in matters of the supernatural and obscure, making friends with classmates, a ghost, robots, psychopomps, living shadows, fairies, and eldritch horrors in the form of silly woodland creatures while exploring the mysteries of the school and her own ancestry. Shows remarkable art progression; the style of the first storyline is unrecognizable from the present. Especially rewarding if you’re into alchemy. LGBT content, including prominent WLW characters. Warnings: unreality is a recurring theme, and there is a bit of “suicidal” fairies desperate to be reincarnated as humans. Boxbot is rubbish.
Johnny Wander, by Yuko Ota & Ananth Hirsh. Autobiographical, Fantasy, Humor, Mixed-Format. A mix of slice-of-life autobiographical pages, and short stories, including the longer format “Barbarous” and “Lucky Penny”.
Kevin & Kell, by Bill Holbrook. Comedy, Slice-of-Life, Furry. Mixed-Format. Extremely long-running strip (daily updates since September of 1995). In a world of anthropomorphic animals where predatory species can legally & without repercussions hunt & consume other species, a businesswoman wolf (Kell) and her uncommonly large rabbit husband (Kevin) make their blended family work in spite of social stigma against predator/prey relationships. Far more light-hearted than it sounds, though it often touches on social issues and drama. Light LGBT content from some minor recurring characters.
Kill Six Billion Demons, by Abbadon. Fantasy, Metaphysical, Martial Arts. Long Format. A college student’s attempt at heterosexuality is interrupted by the arrival of a legendary king of all reality. Thrust into a battle over the greatest power of all worlds, Allison faces devils, angels, and the city at the center of the 777,777 universes. It’s a lot to take in. Occasionally not safe for work. Frequent LGBT content, including WLW.
Love Me Nice, by Amanda Lafrenais. Comedy, Hollywood. Long Format. Set in a world shared by cartoon characters and ‘real’ people (think Roger Rabbit), where TV star Mac T. Monkey Jr. struggles between his irresponsible instincts and his attempts to build a life as an adult and a relationship with fellow protagonist (and manager) Claire. Some LGBT content; infrequent updates. Occasionally Not Safe For Work.
Manly Guys Doing Manly Things, by Coelasquid. Comedy, Videogames, Parody. Mixed-Format. The staff of a temp agency for “ludicrously macho guys” tries to help the protagonists of video games, TV, and movies deal with their testosterone-addled brains in a constructive fashion. Occasional LGBT content—mostly MLM, naturally. Keep an eye out for the fluffy little velociraptors, and Mr. Fish the Gyarados. On indefinite hiatus since June of 2018.
Narbonic, by Shaenon K. Garrity. Comedy, Sci-Fi, Mad Science, Gerbils. Mixed-Format. Comp Sci. grad Dave needs a job. Helen B. Narbon, cute blonde mad scientist with a gerbil fixation, is hiring. Story arcs feature action-packed forensic linguistics, a worldwide conspiracy of guys with the same name, rodents uplifted to sentience, time travel. Some awkwardness around gender transformations, light LGBT content. Completed, with author annotations.
Nedroid Picture Diary, by Anthony Clark. Comedy, Absurdity. Short Format. Short comics that very quickly come to focus on the antics of the anomalous ursine orb Beartato and his friend/roommate Reginald, a bird who is just terrible.
Not Drunk Enough, by Tess Stone. Supernatural, Action, Horror. Long Format. A survival horror styled webcomic by a creator with a history of exceptionally dynamic page composition and lettering. Expect lots of magnificently weird body horror.
O Human Star, by Blue Delliquanti. Roboticist Al Sterling died. Al Sterling woke up an android body mimicking his own. As he reconnects with his former partner-in-several-senses, he explores a world that remembers him as one of its greatest innovators. Major themes of identity, the definition of humanity, and gender and sexuality. LGBT themes including MLM and transgender characters. Warning for some discussion of self-harm.
Outsider, by Jim Francis. Sci-Fi. Long Format. Beautifully-illustrated science fiction story that is painfully slow to update. If you watched a lot of 80s and 90s sci-fi anime, you’ll get the vibe that this has—including its arguable weak point of being centered on a man who finds himself among an alien race dominated by warrior women.
Patrik the Vampire, by Bree Paulsen. Supernatural, Slice-of-Life. Long Format. The unlife and history of an exceptionally awkward vampire and the mortals around him—book club, knitting, coffee shops, violent murder. Some LGBT content.
Poppy O’Possum, by I. Everett. Fantasy, Furries. Long Format. A single mother in a world of animal people where only opossums lack magic, Poppy just wants to settle down in quiet and safety with her daughter Lily. The world has other ideas—but fortunately, Poppy is mind-blowingly strong. On hiatus. Some LGBT content.
Questionable Content, by Jeph Jacques. Slice-of-Life, Comedy, Sci-Fi. Mixed-Format. Starts out focusing on indie rock fan Marten and his robotic “anthroPC” Pintsize. As the art evolves, so does the subject matter, focusing more and more on the rest of the cast and topics like the nature of personhood and identity for artificial intelligence. Eventually comes to feature significant LGBT content, including bisexual and transgender characters in the main cast.
Rae the Doe, by Olive Brinker. Comedy, Slice-of-Life. (Mostly) Short Format. If Garfield was a transgender doe and wore clothes and also there weren’t any jokes about Mondays or lasagna and the comic was constantly assumed to be autobiographical in spite of its creator frequently asserting otherwise and the comic was still genuinely funny. But otherwise just like Garfield, really.
Selkie, by Dave Warren. Sci-Fi, Slice-of-Life, Comedy, Drama. Long-Format. Former adoptee Todd becomes a father himself to a strange young girl who turns out to be a refugee from a secret underwater civilization. While the public gradually becomes aware that humans are not alone, family forms and is redefined as secrets from both Todd and Selkie’s past are revealed and dealt with, and kids confront issues of inclusion and exclusion. Also, for some reason two of the kids from Evangelion are Todd’s neighbors.
Skin Deep, by Kory Bing. Fantasy, Coming-of-Age, Monster Girls (and Boys). Michelle discovers the secret world of mythical monster people after a small medallion unlocks her own heritage as a sphinx—supposedly long-extinct, according to the other monsters. Michelle must explore who she is and her family history while also trying to avoid completely upending nonhuman society and maintaining secrets within a culture already used to the use of magical illusions and transformations. Light LGBT content.
Skin Horse, by Shaenon Garrity. Comedy, Sci-Fi, Mad Science, Zombies, Canadians. Mixed-Format. Set in the same universe as Narbonic (see above), “Skin Horse” follows an organization of the same name dedicated to providing social services to beings only recognized by the secret shadow government—staffed by a patchwork zombie bioweapon, a talking sled dog, a cross-dressing pansexual psychologist, and a receptionist in the form of an immobile Victorian robotic weapon of mass destruction, all overseen by a sentient swarm of bees. Frequent LGBT content.
Something*Positive, by RK Milholland. Comedy, Slice-of-Live, Parody. Mixed-Format. Very long-running comic that gradually grows from a dark and misanthropic sense of humor into a dark and misanthropic sense of humor with a warm and gooey center. Earlier comics can be pretty weak and handle many subjects very poorly (the first strip, linked above, features an abortion “joke”); gradually improves.in terms of LGBT representation to the point that it’s one of the better webcomics in that regard. I might recommend skipping ahead in the archives to the current decade (the “1937″ and “1938″ are strips flashing back to the previous generations).
Spacetrawler, by Christopher Baldwin. Sci-Fi, Comedy. Long-Format. The naive but brilliant alien race known as the Eebs are enslaved by interplanetary society at large, depending on their servile nature to maintain the high standard of technology and transportation across the void of space. A group of utterly incompetent aliens come to Earth to seek help in freeing the Eebs... and generally fuck everything up for the best with their terrible choices of sample humans. Currently in the midst of a sequel series focusing on new intrigue and antics, including a talking, murderous kangaroo.
Spinnerette, by Krakow Studios. Superheroes, Comedy, Sci-Fi. Mixed-Format. A grad student develops spider-themed superpowers—including extra arms—and attempts to navigate both concealing her transformation, and becoming a superhero in a world where super-powered vigilantes and criminals are a fact of life. Not Work-Safe due to suggestive artwork including improbably form-fitting costumes over improbably large bosoms. Recurring LGBT content.
Val & Isaac, by @tredlocity. Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Comedy. Mixed-Format. A space mercenary, her wizard buddy, and the cyborg fish girl who keeps all their technology functional, occasionally featuring their shapeshifting assassin friend Space Dread. Major LGBT content, including WLW and MLM, and a prominent transgender character.
Vattu, by Evan Dahm. Fantasy, Worldbuilding. Long-Format. Born to the Fluters of the grasslands, Vattu finds her traditional subsistence lifestyle torn away as a multi-species empire asserts a claim over her people’s lands. A fantasy epic with several major arcs; see also the creator’s earlier completed works Rice Boy and Order of Tales.
XKCD, by Randall Munroe. Science, Parody, Comedy. Short Format. Stick figures and scientific silliness. Make a point of checking the alt-text of each comic by moving your cursor over the strip. Early pages are much more along the lines of experimental sketches; link above directs to a random comic in the archives. Some comics are more along the lines of interactive games!
Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic (YAFGC), by Rich Morris. Fantasy, Comedy, Parody. Mixed-Format. Not Work-Safe. The inhabitants of a world heavily based in Dungeons & Dragons go about their lives as monsters, humanoids, and soul-searching mixes of the two. Begins with a romance between a beholder and a goblin, gradually builds up to battles between nations and the gods themselves, while also finding time to explore family, loss and love, and whether kobolds count as sapient. Moderate LGBT content including recurring gay & bisexual characters (it’s a very large cast); new readers guide here.

ayyy sorry I know I keep disappearing for like, literal months at a time. I feel like there are so many things changing in my life all at once?? like obviously there was my jaw surgery, which was a brutal, gruelling, life-altering transformation (also sorry I should really post some pics here but in the meantime if you're curious just hit me up via messenger and I'll give you the name of my double jaw surgery insta).......then there's my first ever foray into short stories: I took the fiction workshop for my program (as well as a creative nonfiction workshop) because we're required to do workshops outside of our primary genre, and I discovered that I literally fucking love writing fiction and am actually pretty good at it???? my prof was absolutely superb and gave amazing feedback and advice and I feel like I've grown more as a writer in the last couple months than I have in like 3 years 😭
also I have been really and intensely grappling with both my gender and the possibility that I might be bi as opposed to a lesbian???? which is fucking wild and such a throwback to grade 10 and I feel so silly for how many times I've gone back and forth on the issue of both my gender and my sexual orientation but like, yeah. I kind of maybe like a man???? maybe??? and I feel like I've had moments of attraction to men before but most men are just terrible and immediately ruin themselves through their words and behaviour, so I've always ended up with women and nonbinary people who actively align themselves with womanhood in some sense........and just in general women are so much better than men so if I'm bi I would say I'm like 88% attracted to women and then the rest is just a screaming void of confusion lmao. but yeah, one guy at least rip.
anyway in terms of gender I'm mostly just trying to work through the intense disconnect I feel from my body and the way I'm perceived and the way I've constructed my "cis womanhood" entirely around being perceived as desirable by people I don't even fucking like. over the years I've always wondered if I might be a trans man or nonbinary but I can't necessarily imagine myself being content or at ease within my body under those conditions either?? like sometimes I see art of angels with no eyes and impossibly long, emaciated limbs and a thousand wings and I'm like "oh yo that's what I want to be" so lmao......but yeah when I think about why I consider myself a woman it really does come down to things that have very little to do with who I am or what makes me comfortable or happy: like I think the biggest thing is that I want to be aligned with all the women and girls in my family who I admire and love, not with my dad or with any of the other husbands??? like the divide in my family is very much "black women/white men" with a couple exceptions and I feel so much more unity and trust and love with the women than with the men and there's this part of me that feels like being anything other than a woman would be a betrayal and would cut me off from them. but over the years a lot of my trans friends, often unprompted, have offered to support me in exploring my gender and one girl just did that again when we were on molly and just hugging and cuddling and telling each other how much we love each other, and like. yo. this could be the time to actually start playing with how I present and how I identify??? and just see how shit feels, you know? and I could do a better job now than when I was 15 and didn't know nearly as much and had almost no support in any form. I still don't know myself very well or what I want, but I'm 23 and I've got a pretty good therapist (she's a prison abolitionist!!!) and lots of friends, and a new jaw, and why the hell not???
#sounds like a personal problem#long post /#lmao i fully realize this is a lot tm#i'm just like what#my extended absence from tumblr is definitely at least in part a matter of#~what the hell do i put for my bio now lmao~

brought low a bit, by various threads discussing a particular AWP conference event regarding textual intimacy and eroticism, especially in queer books. this is a subject that’s been horribly frustrating the past couple of months (mostly rl but only tangentially in my own writing). Any talk about ‘taking back’ a particular offense or insult always feels alienating. the phrase “using stigma to create style” was said regarding gays and gay writers and truly -what about the unstylish bitches! where’s MY style? what’s my style? and with all this talk going on about intimacy and transcendence and joy and openness going around, which inevitably goes around when you try to follow mainly positive lgbtq people on twitter - where’s MY openness? am I open enough? am I open to these talented people’s exacting standards?
at one point in my MFA program, one of the poetry professors (awful! I shan’t name!) scheduled a ‘women only’ reading of her recent erotic pastoral poems series. and since every other woman in the program was there and i, by accident of birth happen to be one, also went because i was obsessed with not gaining the rep of a conservative fuddy-duddy. anyway the event was not held outside by the campfire like i thought, and was instead held in the poet’s room where she’d draped all the lights with pink scarves and all the women in the program were draped lustily around all the furniture half-undressed (my thesis adviser helpfully pointed out to me look melanie, I took my shirt off!”) and they all had a sexy transformative experience lolling and sighing around while the poet recited about having a threesome with her husband with another lady, and that she totally grabbed the lady’s tits. so one example of my brushes with literary eroticism
The whole program was kind of like this at many points, with many writing, but also mental exercises trying to render us very vulnerable in different ways. it was done in a very supportive and kind and I guess process-focused environment, but frankly, even that got fucking exhausting after three days (and we were in residency for ten) like no, don’t put your hand on my chest and announce “you’re tense. something happened while you were at home, what was it?”. don’t Reiki me or touch me or primal scream at me! good lord.
anyway so much of this crap is tied up into sex/intimacy and sexual identity and ~your womanhood~ and like, only for so long can you be the person with the problem while everybody else is sighing and draped over the furniture in the pink washed room. you have to grow up, or else you’re the one sitting by the campfire by yourself like a fool. how?
that has also come up with some AWP queer shit - taking things back, naming yourself, defining yourself “in your own terms.” I’ve used and discarded a lot of terms for myself over the years (honestly I probably would have anyway) but it almost always comes down to - but it never is in our own terms, is it? everything about me is tied up into someone else, a friend, a family member, a stranger, who ultimately does have power. today we have nothing but words and the freedom of words to define ourselves, but the more there are the more trapped and faded I feel. I can barely handle lesbian and woman, and even that doesn’t feel things i’ve taking back ‘on my own terms’. even the clothes I wear aren’t worn under my own terms. Just too many people are looking. and since nobody, not even I can agree on what I am, I’m just this pasty stamp in too-big target clothes lurching around.
and it always comes around to the work! i’m reading my new stories with pathetic thoughts like “but is this too sly and nasty? where’s the transcendence? is it to un-joyful? is it dreary? is it unattractive and ponderous and heavy? is this story like an ugly, depressed lesbionic who simply cannot put out with the appropriate verve?
anyway i’m talking with a person who might be interested in This Person and let me tell you I hate it i hate it i haaaaaaaaaaaaate it. I absolutely fucking hate it. I hate the expectation and the weird moves towards private matters and the crawlings into what might be flirting and i hate all the texts, and it feels like the worst thing I could be doing right now. and I’m extremely ashamed that I feel this way about a situation that involves a perfectly kind and appropriate and interesting person, and that, realistically, to stop being uncomfortable i have to continue making myself even more uncomfortable in the hopes that one day i will be slightly less uncomfortable - and that thought is fucking exhausting. it’s almost exactly how i felt when i finally booked an appointment with my Fired Therapist. which is, of course, an incredibly sexy way to think about someone.
#2018 was already ruined! I will not let this shit ruin this year!#i'm tired of positivity i want to be just a relentless self-disciplinarian! i'm tired!

The recommendations one!
OKAY, This might get long :p… Off the top of my head:
p>
Books:
Children of Eden: Rowan is a Second Child in a world where population control measures make her an outlaw, marked for death. She can never go to school, make friends, or get the eye implants that will mark her as a true member of Eden. Her kaleidoscope eyes will give her away to the ruthless Center government.
Outside of Eden, Earth is poisoned and dead. All animals and most plants have been destroyed by a man-made catastrophe. Long ago, the brilliant scientist Aaron al Baz saved a pocket of civilization by designing the EcoPanopticon, a massive computer program that hijacked all global technology and put it to use preserving the last vestiges of mankind. Humans will wait for thousands of years in Eden until the EcoPan heals the world.
Be More Chill: Jeremy Heere enlists a supercomputer implant(SQUIP) to make himself popular.
A Long Walk to Water: Salva Dut is a young 11-year-old boy separated from his family during a war in what is now South Sudan because of the Second Sudanese Civil War. He has to walk for weeks with only the hope that one day he will find his family again. Salva also struggles to find food and water to survive along with avoiding gunmen, lions and other threats.
Nya is an 11-year-old girl who walks eight hours to fetch water from the pond. She and her family live in South Sudan in 2008-2009. Her family home is far from the nearest pond, where she walks twice a day to support her parents and younger sister, Akeer. [The author of this visited my school. She was kind of stuck up and annoying, but the book is great.]
A Street Cat Named Bob: When street musician James Bowen found an injured cat curled up in the hallway of his apartment building, he had no idea how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London, barely making enough money to feed himself, and the last thing he needed was a pet. Yet James couldn’t resist helping the strikingly intelligent but very sick animal, whom he named Bob. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, imagining that he would never see him again. But Bob had other ideas.
Shows:
Trigger Warning, 13 Reasons why: I’m guessing you know what this is about. Amazing show.
The Fosters: Stef, a dedicated police officer, is in a relationship with Lena. The two have built a close-knit family with Stef’s biological son, Brandon, and adopted twins, Mariana and Jesus. When Lena meets Callie – hardened from being in and out of foster homes – the couple welcome her into their home, thinking it is temporary. Callie’s blunt commentary about the atypical family hits a nerve with the twins, who struggle with their own identities. Then the girl discovers a secret that could land Mariana in trouble. Brandon helps Callie navigate the social scene at high school, but she skips school to meet up with an old friend. Her behavior makes Stef and Lena second-guess their decision to help her. [LESBIAN AND GAY MAIN CHARACTERS! AND A TRANSGENDER MAIN/REACURRING ONE! AND HUGE COVERAGE ABOUT DACA AND TRUMP-]
Bates Motel: (HUGE r*pe TW for episode 1/the whole show, and a lot of gore.) After the death of her husband, Norma Bates buys a motel in the picturesque coastal town of White Pine Bay, giving herself and teenage son Norman a chance to begin anew. Shy Norman is reluctant at first, but with the help of his mother – with whom he shares an intensely close relationship – the boy begins to open up to others and make new friends. Some locals, however, aren’t as friendly and welcoming to the Bates, who discover that because White Pine Bay isn’t as peaceful as it appears, they are forced to do whatever it takes to survive.
Grey’s Anatomy: The medical drama series focuses on a group of doctors at a hospital in Seattle, including several who began their careers at the facility as interns. One of the doctors and the show’s namesake, Meredith Grey, is the daughter of a famous surgeon. She struggles to maintain relationships with her colleagues, particularly the hospital’s one-time chief of surgery, Richard Webber, due to a pre-existing relationship between them – Webber and Meredith’s mother had a personal relationship when Meredith was young. [HUGE Bisexual representation! Also a lesbian character! This show is one of my special interests!!!]
The Good Doctor: Shaun Murphy, a young autistic surgeon who has savant syndrome, relocates from a quiet country life to join the surgical unit at the prestigious San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital – a move strongly supported by his mentor, Dr. Aaron Glassman. Having survived a troubled childhood, Shaun is alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, but he finds his niche using his extraordinary medical skill and intuition to save lives and challenge the skepticism of his colleagues.
Santa Clarita Diet:[ (Gore tw) Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant star in this Netflix-original series as married realtors, Sheila and Joel, who are living a quiet life, raising their teenage daughter in Santa Clarita, Calif. Their world unexpectedly changes when Sheila goes through a dramatic transformation that sends her down a road of death and destruction – but leaves her looking and feeling better than ever.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend: One of the best shows I’ve ever watched. There’s a musical number in every episode. Successful and driven, Rebecca Bunch seemingly has it all – an upscale apartment in Manhattan and a partnership at a prestigious law firm – but she feels like something is missing. After a chance meeting with a former romantic interest, Rebecca impulsively decides to give up her life in New York and relocate to West Covina, Calif., a Los Angeles suburb she hopes will be the perfect home base as she embarks on a quest for love, adventure and true happiness.
Anne With an E: (Based on Anne of Green Gables.) Anne is a 13-year-old who has endured an abusive childhood in orphanages and the homes of strangers. In the late 1890s, Anne is mistakenly sent to live with aging siblings, Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, who live on Prince Edward Island. Anne, who proves to be uniquely spirited, imaginative and smart, transforms the lives of Marilla, Matthew and everyone else in their small town.

Mimi Tachikawa
Strangely enough, I used to like her even back when I was a kid programated to hate all the girly girl characters. The creators did an amazing job with her. Mimi is better each season. She transforms her selfishness in genuine care for others while still loving herself the most (which is actually the healthiest balance).
The one who suffers more changes out of all the digidestined, and deep down, is still the same. So pure and funny! I believe one of her charms is actually her good sense of humour, something stereotypical preppy girls don't tend to have. I also like her relationships with other females; Mimi is never shown as someone who perceives other girls as a menace (#Much needed sorority).
You gotta love her style! She is so pretty with glittery pink hair in 02 ^.^
Fandom-wise, she is such a flexible character and can be portrayed in so many different ways without being inaccurate with canon. I mean, she can be both Slytherin and Hufflepuff material. How awesome is that?
Finally, I'm gonna say I headcanon her as a bisexual and here is a list of my favourite pairings and opinions about her relationship with certain characters, which I find truly interesting.
Koumi/Mishiro (with Koushiro “Izzy” Izumi).
Is a bit cliché in the sense of `geek gets the pretty and popular girl´ but I don't care, it has been my preferential pairing for her since I first watched the anime when I was a child. Their digimons also match nicely: the flower and the insect, must definately be intended.
Michi (with Taichi Yagami/Kamiya).
Also kinda stereotypical if you think of them as the cheerleader and the athlete. Any way, I think it`s a cute and entretaining couple.
Sorami (with Sora Takenouchi), forming the ultimate lesbian ship.
They are both so pretty in the outside and inside, best friends and complement each other perfectly. What else can you ask for?
Poly relationship with the two aforementioned.
Plus the option of adding Yamato Ishida to the mix too.
By the way, this foursome is the only way I am able to tolerate Mimi and Matt having something (I have always disliked the idea of Mimato. People ship it, which is fine, but is not my cup of tea, definitely one of my NOTPs) and I must admit that I imagine it more like a “fun and games” thing than them actually being in love (I am not trying to imply they do not care about each other because they most certantly do, is just that I believe that, even in this scennario, the connection each of them would have with Tai or Sora would be stronger than with the other)
Jyou Kiddo used to have a thing for her, however, she clearly didn't correspond, at least not romantic or sexually (I mean, Mimi adores Joe, he is a great friend and she can always count on him. Of course she thinks highly of him, just not in a “I have a crush” kind of way).
That`s my take on Jyoumi and I believe is actually kinda canon if you take the movies into account ¿?
As I picture it, they seek completely different things and if they actually tried to date, they would probably just stress each other out.
Miyako admires her and I platonically ship them, especially from the side of the youngest.
On a similar note, probably the only thing I like about Meiko is that she would make an adorable couple with our Tachikawa girl.
In the future, I will probably make more of this posts about my other favourite digidestined kids. You can take this as an invitation to ask me for ship or character headcanons.
